Is Doran okay? Is he alive? What's going on?!
Your questions and more...
Man, this last week or so have been crazy. Amazingly, I'm holding up well.
The house sale still looks like it's going forward. The buyers switched from a conventional loan to an FHA loan this last week and that made Christine and I a bit nervous. We wondered why they couldn't or didn't want to get the conventional loan. Plus, there's the added hassle of dealing with FHA - the appraisal/inspections and other balogna. We're not looking forward to it, but we'll go along with it.
Still nothing solid on the employment situation. I talked to a local vocational training school about teaching some computer-related classes. They want me, but they want to start using me on an as-needed basis and I really need something solid right now and something with benefits.
I just e-mailed my contact there tonight and told him I couldn't accept their invitation to come work for them. It just doesn't fit right now.
On top of that, it looks like we're going to move into Christine's brother's basement in Sandy at least until we know what we're going to do from here.
Meanwhile, Iodynamics has been keeping me very busy. Lots of little projects going on right now and a couple larger ones. One of our clients has been poised to spring a HUGE project on us since the first of the year and they're talking about sitting down with us next month to discuss that. I hope it happens.
We should be all packed up and ready to move now, right? Hah!
I've got a few boxes packed up, but it's going to be a busy week this next week. Christine's brother doesn't have room for much stuff, so we'll need to store most of our stuff. Christine wants to see if we can store a lot of our stuff in her parents' house and in her sister's house — effectively spreading our stuff and us out over a 60-100 mile area.
I did take a carload of stuff to Deseret Industries — the local church-run donation/thrift store — including eight AT computer cases, a couple socket-7 motherboards, books, shoes, stuffed animals, and clothes. Christine's already got another bag of stuff ready to go there tomorrow.
Easter
Easter was fun. The kids enjoyed their new Radio Flyer wagon... an All-Terrain Wagon. It has pneumatic wheels and has the smoothest ride I've ever known (although I have yet to actually ride in it). The kids like to try to take naps in the wagon when we pull them around the neighborhood.
Birthday
My thirty first birthday is Saturday. When I was employed with About and all that jazz, I told Christine I wanted a new car stereo for the Subaru - one that would play MP3 CD-Rs. She said that sounded like a good birthday gift. I had started researching the various models available when I was laid off and it became a sad realization that it just wouldn't be wise to proceed with wanting that gift for my birthday — Not when money was not certain.
So, I'm looking at a somber birthday, I guess.
Christine just came in to the bathroom (yeah, I'm in the tub). She's looks like she's still half-asleep and groggy. I'm listening to some Styx with my headphones, so we're not talking... Okay, now she's gone.
My parents want to meet us somewhere in Ogden or Layton for dinner Saturday evening. I guess I get to pick the place. I should think about that.
