Warming up to Armenia

It finally seems to be getting warmer outside. The snow has begun to melt off the lawn and the stores are starting to stock gardening supplies.
I think my favorite time of the year is about the third week of April. It's not until then that the trees in northern Utah really start to show green. But when they do, it seems to happen all at once. It's really quite a spectacle after several months of dead-looking vegetation.
That reminds me of one big drawback we have had to deal with in buying a new home in a new neighborhood: no trees. We planted a couple new trees in our backyard last year, but they're still much too small to provide any shade. I am hopeful they'll come back this year, but I was very worried last year when I saw them get battered by the fierce winds we experience being close to the mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon.
Hanging with the Sons Easter Weekend
It's looking like I'll be in southern Utah at a private concert helping the premiere art rock band Sons Of Nothing during Easter weekend. They'll be playing a set of original music the first night and will be playing a Pink Floyd tribute set the second night. I'll be armed with my digital camera, camcorder, and my laptop.
Getting Armenian with the Family
My paternal grandmother and her family escaped from Armenia at the turn of the 20th century during the Turkish invasions of the country. They fled to the United States of America where my grandmother married young, divorced, and then married my grandfather.
Being 25% Armenian means I've had the pleasure of eating some excellent Armenian food during my life.
Yesterday, the Bartons got together at my cousin Jodi's new house in South Jordan for a feast of Armenian food. Jodi's husband Phil worked the oven, cooking Armenian meatpies non-stop from 1:00. We also had rice pilaf, hot string bean soup, and pa-oz. Unfortunately, there was no sarma, but my mom makes that a couple times a year, so I won't complain.
