SLRA meeting with David Kirkham

Tonight, I went to a Salt Lake Republican Assembly meeting. The speaker was David Kirkham.
First of all, let me just say that I don't usually get out to these kinds of meetings. Unlike most who attended, I generally don't have time for face time with other people. I attended a handful of rallies and meetings back in 2009 and early 2010 when I was self-employed and had a lot more flexibility in my schedule, but since I started working full time again, I have been forced to limit my political participation to blogs, Facebook, and other online outlets.
So, why did I go tonight? Because I wanted to hear what David Kirkham had to say.
Who is David Kirkham? David Kirkham is known by many as the "Founder of the Utah Tea Party." How can that be? Tea parties aren't formal organizations. Well, that's true, but David has the distinction of being the person who single-handedly organized Salt Lake City's first tea party protest, way back on March 6, 2009.
David isn't interesting just because he organized the first tea party protest. He's also very interesting because he is the owner of Kirkham Motorsports, a Utah-based company that manufactures replicas of classic roadsters.
At tonight's meeting, David told the story of how he started Kirkham Motorsports and how he came to do much of the manufacturing of these cars in a Cold War-era MiG factory located in Poland.
David is soft-spoken which led me to move much closer to the front of the room so I could hear more of what he was saying.
