“Beware of being eaten by small children due to small parts.”
I love those Engrish-style quotes. Oh, and here's a great Engrish image.
I want my MP3
I got a Sony D-CJ500 MP3 Discman yesterday as part of a bonus
program at work. It's pretty nice. Okay, it's really, really nice.
The only downside is that I stopped ripping my CDs to MP3 a while ago in favor of the superior Ogg Vorbis audio format. However, there are no Ogg Vorbis player devices on the market right now. I've made some progress toward building an Ogg/MP3 jukebox for my car built around a laptop or lower-end PC running Linux, but I just haven't had the time to finish the project.
But, hey, this D-CJ500 is great. It has a big buffer of memory — I don't know exactly know how big it is, but it makes it possible for Sony to claim 24 hours of battery life (2 AA batteries) for playing MP3s and a whopping 32 hours playing audio CDs.
The folder navigation is easy to use too and I really appreciate that the LCD display is dot-matrix and displays scrolling folder and song names and not just a track number or some junk like that. It also let's you see ID3 tag data!
I'll have to convert my Ogg files to MP3 to burn them onto a few CD-Rs.
Oh, I just found out that Chadd has the same Discman model. I knew he had a Sony MP3 Discman, but I wasn't sure what model it was. He keeps it tucked away in some CaseLogic bag.
Everyone's sick
Christine called me yesterday to tell me both our girls are sick with fevers. Iodynamics partner Dave has been sick since Friday.
Christine has a doctor appointment on Thursday (more about that in a future entry) and doesn't want to take the kids to a sitter if they're sick. She needs to find someone who can watch the kids at our house. Maybe my mom.
