Reuniting

Day four in Iowa and the last full day. Tomorrow, we fly home.

Calling out to your friend Roark

Last night, Dad asked me for a ranitidine tablet - said he had some indigestion. Then, around 1 a.m., he asked me to move a garbage can over by him because he felt like he might need to vomit.

This morning, we found out everyone who had eaten chicken for lunch yesterday at KFC was more or less, in the same condition: sick. I escaped this because I had food from the Taco Bell side of the restaurant. But my dad, Bill McElewe, Edson, and Connie were all sick through the night and Edson and Connie were sick most of the day.

Dad and Bill McElewe were better, for the most part, by the time of the reunion.

Barton Reunion

Wes and Bill arranged to have a reunion of sorts at the Mount Pleasant recreation center today. It started at 11:30 and about 60 people showed up - all related to William Roberts Barton.

Everyone introduced themselves to the group, we had a nice catered meal, and then we took some photos. During the reunion, many people visited and exchanged family history information. Many brought pictures and books of ancestors to share with the group.

After the reunion, Dad and I went back to the hotel where he slept for a couple hours. Then we went to dinner and then went over to Wes's. Wes got some steaks and insisted we eat some more. Then we came back to the hotel.

When we left Wes's, Connie was still feeling tired and was running a slight fever. Dad was running a mild fever too, but he's not experiencing anywhere near the effects Connie was feeling.

Hopefully, everyone will feel better tomorrow.

We leave Mount Pleasant tomorrow around 10 a.m. We're going to have breakfast at Wes's before we leave.

On our way back to St. Louis, we plan to visit Hannibal, Missouri.

We're supposed to arrive in Salt Lake City at 9:30 p.m.
